The seven-mile Junction and Breakwater Trail links Lewes and Rehoboth Beach by way of Cape Henlopen State Park and other lands. It also connects with the Gordons Pond Trail to form a larger, 16-mile loop.

Most of the trail is a 12-foot-wide, crushed-stone pathway. It runs parallel to Route 1, Delaware's main traffic corridor to and from its beaches. This path's finely crushed stone makes it suitable for both narrow and wide tires. And its level grade makes it perfect for riders of all abilities.

The northernmost parking lot is located at Cape Henlopen High School, near the intersection of Gills Neck Road and Red Tail Road. To the south, Tanger Outlets (address above) provides a large parking lot, restrooms, information, and a bike rack. It also gives riders an opportunity to break from the trail, shop the mall, and grab a bite before heading back into the relative calm of the woods.

Riders may spot hawks, geese, and the occasional bald eagle. And deer, squirrels, and other animals often share the pathway.

This trail is handicap accessible.
