Beck's Pond County Park is the most popular fishing pond in Delaware. It offers:

■ a 26-acre, freshwater pond
■ a playground
■ pavilions
■ picnic tables
■ a boat ramp
■ public restrooms

Here you might hook a bluegill, crappie, largemouth bass, pumpkinseed sunfish, or yellow perch. You might also hook a northern snakehead, an invasive fish from Africa or Asia. If you do, please do not release it. Instead, please freeze or kill it before calling (302) 739-9914 to report its existence. Doing so will help to stop the spread of this intruder, which otherwise might kill or crowd out fishes that are native to Delaware.

As in any state, we suggest that you consult current fish-consumption advisories before deciding to harvest a fish. These can be found at http://1.usa.gov/SSOGkX. And whenever in doubt, simply practice catch-and-release fishing, a fun pastime by all accounts.
