Glasgow County Park may well be the crown jewel of New Castle County's park system. For one thing, it offers 250 acres -- more open space than many state parks can claim. This land is home to a 2.7-mile, paved walkway that loops around a variety of fun attractions. One of these is "Bear Mountain," a massive sledding hill that may be the biggest around. This is especially popular given how Delaware has the lowest average elevation in America -- just 60 feet above sea level.
Those who haven't visited in years will marvel at $10 million worth of improvements made to the park. This includes construction of the Glasgow Regional Skate Park, which opened in March 2012 near the park's playground and the Bear-Glasgow Family YMCA. It also included a bark park for dogs in August of 2013. This is located at the western end of the park, close to the intersection of U.S. 40 and Route 896.
